“Why June Still Means Forever”
By Nicola Waugh, Senior Chief Editor, Sistazas Empowered Magazine
Dear Sistazas,
There’s something about June that always takes my breath away. Maybe it’s the
scent of sunlit roses, the swirl of satin gowns and sparkly veils, or the joy that
blooms when two people say, “I choose you.” Not just for a moment, but forever.
This month, we fully step into our Summer Bridal Edition, and while trends may shift
and aesthetics evolve, June remains a sacred month. It’s more than a popular
wedding month; it’s a symbol of legacy, love, and the power of intentional
beginnings.
As we gathered stories for this issue, I kept coming back to one word: covenant.
The kind of love that doesn’t just say “I do,” but whispers “I will”, through seasons,
setbacks, and sacred milestones. From brides choosing barefoot ceremonies on
beaches to couples renewing vows after 40 years, we were reminded that love
doesn’t need to be flashy; it needs to be faithful.
In these pages, you’ll find more than gowns and gift guides. You’ll see legacy in
motion. We celebrate sisters building love on solid ground. We explore wedding
traditions from across cultures, highlight Black-owned bridal designers shaping the
future, and honor the courage it takes to say “yes” to yourself before saying “yes”
to anyone else.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, reflecting on your own vows, or simply in a
season of becoming, let this issue speak to the forever in you. Let it remind you that
love, real, intentional, spirit-led love, is still worth waiting for, still worth building, still
worth believing in.
Because June isn’t just a date on the calendar, it’s a doorway. And forever still walks
through it.
With love and legacy,
Coach Waugh
