A Life Anchored in Faith and Service
Born in St. James, Jamaica, Dr. Sterling’s calling
has always been rooted in community. Her
doctorate in theology deepened her conviction
that ministry extends beyond walls, into streets,
shelters, and homes. Through her organizations,
including CaribUSA.org and the Caribbean
American Cultural Association (CACANA), she
has spent decades building connections
between the Caribbean and the diaspora.
Goodwill in Motion: GR3 International
For many years, Dr. Sterling has served as a
Goodwill Ambassador for GR3 International
(Global Rapid Rescue Relief), under Executive
Director David Canther, whose global mission is
to train people in emergency response and
strengthen coordination among humanitarian
organizations.
Her partnership with GR3 embodies her belief
that “faith without works is dead.” She continues
to lend her leadership to emergency-response
efforts that merge compassion with
coordination, ensuring that communities receive
both spiritual and physical care.
Feeding the Hungry in a Global Crisis
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr.
Sterling and her volunteers served over 23,000
hot meals between March and November 2021
across New York, with additional outreach in
Georgia and Chicago. “Service is worship,” she
says. “When people are fed with love, they taste
hope.”

CALL TO REBUILD JAMAICA WITH GRACE AND GRIT

Celebrating Culture, Building Community
Her community spirit extends far beyond crisis
response. As the visionary behind CACANA’s
first Caribbean Festival in partnership with the
Town of North Hempstead, she helped celebrate
Caribbean music, food, and heritage. The
festival’s success prompted a heartfelt letter of
appreciation from Town Supervisor Judi
Bosworth, as well as recognition for Dr. Sterling’s
commitment to cultural unity.
A treasured photo shows her expressing
gratitude to the former Commissioner of North
Hempstead, who was instrumental in the event’s
success, a moment she describes simply as
“giving thanks for those who open doors for
others.”
A Friendship Rooted in Purpose
Dr. Sterling’s journey also reflects a sense of
sisterhood and divine connection. In her own
words: “You’re a blessing, Sis, and I appreciate
you from the bottom of my heart. Sisters for a
lifetime, and yes, I’ve found a friend that I’ll
forever cherish. Out of bad comes good.”
That sentiment captures the very essence of
Sistazas Empowered Magazine, women united
by purpose, lifting one another higher through
service and faith.
Faith That Rebuilds Nations
Today, as she partners with other Jamaican-born
professionals across St. James, St. Ann,
Clarendon, and beyond, Dr. Sterling reminds us
that empowerment is not a slogan; it’s a spiritual
posture.
“God uses the wind to strip away what we
thought we needed,” she says, “so that only
what’s true faith, love, and community, remains
standing.”
Her leadership through CaribUSA and GR3
International continues to channel relief to the
hurricane-ravaged parishes, ensuring that every
box of supplies and every hot meal carries with
it the message: Jamaica will rise again.
A Legacy of Service and Faith
Her life is a living ministry, one that feeds, uplifts, and unites. As
Autumn Splendor reflects on renewal and gratitude, Dr. Dothlyn
Sterling stands as proof that even in the fiercest storms, faith
endures, and through faith, the future flourishes.
“We will rebuild, because Jamaica’s faith runs deeper than any flood.”
